Fear Test: Is Fear The Monster Behind Your Stagnancy?

Fear Test: Is Fear the Monster Behind Your Stagnancy?
Face your fear, it can't harm you
Fear according to Collins English dictionary is defined  as a feeling of distress, apprehension, or alarm caused by impending danger, pain etc. Fear is a feeling that something negative will happen. Anytime you decide to do something great, fear will always come to intimidate you, so as to ensure you give up on the idea you have decided to execute. It will suggest to you so many reasons why you are not going to succeed, and your reaction to this phenomenon is a core determinant of whether you are going to succeed or fail in your life pursuits.
Generally, only very few people have been found to possess the ability to master their fears, and these are the few successful ones among us. The vast majority of people fail in life because of succumbing to the intimidation of their fears, and as result, they are denied of the joy which comes from living one’s dream.

Let us take a look at how fear operates using a job applicant as a case study. For instance you are called for an interview of a job you personally know you have the needed qualifications, now fear may suggest to you that, if you go for the interview, you may die in a car accident on your way to the venue, it would remind you of all the terrible accidents you have witnessed all your life, and the kind of personalities that were involved. It will further ask you if you think you are better than those who died in those accidents. In this situation, fear is persuading you not to go, so that you won’t lose your life (fear of death). A weak individual will yield to the threat of fear at that point, and consequently discard the opportunity that could have brought him success.

Similarly, fear could also suggest to you that even if you attend the interview, you are not going to get the job. It will go as far as reminding you of all the interviews you have attended all your life, that have yielded no result. It will appeal to your logical mind that since you fail in those interviews, you are definitely going to fail the one you are about to attend. At this point fear is threatening that if you go for the interview you are not going to get the job, therefore, “don’t go for the interview (fear of failure).”

Any moment you allow fear to take the lead in your life, you are definitely going to end up a looser. If you can take a critical look at your life, you may find out that the reason behind your stagnancy is probably your unconscious decision to accept the threat of fear. You always want to play safe, and you are not ready to risk anything. Anyone who is not ready to risk anything shouldn’t expect to succeed, because in life great achievement means great risk.

Napoleon Hill, in his book, “you can work your own miracles” highlighted eight basic fears that prevent people from succeeding in life, and with proper meditation and critical thinking, as well as a personal evaluation of your life and achievement so far, you should be able to analyze the role any of these fears had played in your life. The various fears include the following: the fear of poverty, the fear of criticism, the fear of ill health and physical pain, the fear of loss of love, the fear of loss of liberty, the fear of old age, the fear of death, you can add to the list. Unless you cure yourselves of this malady called fear, you are not going to have any form of remarkable achievement.

I want to let you know that though your fears seem real, but in reality most of them are illusions, the chances that they’re going to come to pass are extremely slim.

why are we sitting here until we die
Only cowards run for their fear
"FEAR has two meanings..... Forget Everything And Run or Face Everything And Rise. The choices is yours."-Zig Ziglar

There was a tale of four lepers at the gate of Samaria. These lepers by virtue of Jewish tradition were not permitted to stay in the city as a result of their health condition, and to add sore to the injury, there was a serious famine in Samaria. This famine was so intense that parents had to start killing their own children for food. So at this period, the probability of these lepers having access to food was completely zero.

They said to one another “why are we sitting here until we die? If we say we will enter the city, the famine is in the city, and we shall die there, and if we sit here, we shall die also. Now let us therefore come and surrender to the army of the Syrians. If they keep us alive, we shall live, and if they kill us we shall only die.” These four lepers took a move; they beat their fear of death and move into Syria, a city where they have almost 100% chances of being killed. You would wonder what happened to them in Syria. They didn’t die in Syria, but instead ate to their satisfaction and even became wealthy. It was said that as they approach Syria, God caused the people of Syria to hear the sound of chariots and horses and a great army which consequently made them to run for dear life, leaving their belongings behind. These four lepers ate and drank. They also took away silver and gold, and clothes left behind by the people of Syria.

The lesson of this story is this, if you make an attempt to do something great you have two options, you will either succeed or fail, and even when you fail, you would have learned something new, but if you refuse to try at all, the only option you have is failure. I will rather fail in doing something than excel in doing nothing.
